Portraits

We have included several portraits here for your review, and we hope you will enjoy viewing these. Your portrait can be rendered from a photograph that you provide or from one that we take. We have also provided some close-ups so you can see some of the detail in these paintings. What is shown is typical of a portrait by Dan Johnson. You can be confident that your portrait will be rendered with the same calibre of detail and brush technique as shown here.

A painted portrait can "bring to life" what the camera simply cannot. Even a portrait done from a photograph can take on it's own character; the artist working with color to produce not just a copy but a rendering almost with a life of its own.
The first step in the process is to obtain good photographs. We want to work from the best reference possible so many photos might be taken before even one is approved. The goal being to capture the personality of the subject with a photo that meets approval of both the artist and the customer. This photograph(s) can now serve as a preview to the finished portrait as well as a baseline point of reference for the work in progress.
Photographs which you have already taken can be used if they provide what the artist needs.
